I had a pet squirrel when I was a kid, but pretty much found them to be rats with a stylist. Not a fan.

Last year one neighbor was remodeling and the other side of me is a couple that was nursing a baby squirrel with a broken tail back to health. The squirrels got at some buckets of oranges that I filled from my trees, and I guess had run off from drywall dust on them. The squirrels ate some oranges, went to the neighbors and proceeded to die in horrific convulsions and vomit on their steps in wave after wave. Like 10+ bushy-tailed bodies in total. Then there were a few that died on the intake to their A/C unit. They found that out on the hottest day of the summer.

I hate the little buggers for eating all my vegetable garden and chewing through my landscape light and irrigation wiring. They also tend to kick my gutter lights down. So I got blamed, but played a little detective and they agreed it was not my fault.

A month ago I had one nose-dive directly on my hood from a tree. Dead.

My X6M claimed 3 the first week I got the big red beast. They just ran in front to be flat, like a suicide cult. I had a Volvo S60 that for some reason was part coyote call, part coyote reaper. They loved to jump in front.

TODAY... So I am patching some of my driveway with concrete. For the last few days a pair of bags are out there waiting to be mixed and one little bugger kept tearing it open and getting in. We witnessed him "bathing" in it like a chinchilla. Found him on the stairs leading to the street, splayed out, grey and stiff. He weighed a ton for a squirrel, must have ingested a lot of ready-mix concrete. There were others, so I imagine it raining concrete squirrels from the trees any day now.

Anybody else noticing wild behavior in the local animal population or is it just me?

You said it. Dirty no-account varmints!

Craziest thing I ever saw was one chomp into a wire on an above ground electrical wire (or whatever the little guy did), because all I heard was a loud crackle, followed by a flaming squirrel falling out of the sky.

I may set up my security cameras to the normal squirrel hot spots. I am waiting for one to bite in to the gas line and self-immolate.

My neighbor puts food out to feed squirrels, and they come over on my property and chew on everything. She refuses to stop. I'm thinking of trapping and relocating. Really a PITA.
