Sunroof

I saw a sunroof on a 360. I was wondering if this is a factory option or done aftermarket?

It is a rare option and expensive (when new) as well......but not worth having.

I briefly considered a 2000 360 with this option until I took a good look at it.
First, its not electric.....you have to manually remove it and store it in your trunk (in a ferrari?).
Secondly once removed the opening is too small to be of much use.
And it just looks poorly thought out and second rate for a high end car.

I was told that it was designed this way to accomodate the shape of the roof and structure but if you could not design something decent......then why bother.

 

It was for a test market and did not fare well.

There were 12 cars made worldwide with that option - 9 in the US and the rest in Europe.

The fact that the panel had to be removed as in the earlier cars did not go over well.

Today's environment wants automation.

 

This one has been for sale on ebay for a while....personally, I think if I had the chance to buy the same exact car for the same price/condition and one had the sunroof and the other did not I would take the one without it. I guess to further that analysis, personally I would pay less for a car that had a sunroof. It's just my personal opinion, but between it looking strange (like someone else said it just looks aftermarket), and who knows if the thing will start leaking or what have you, I wouldn't want it. Well, I don't mean I wouldn't take it for the right condition/priced car (heck, it's still a 360), but I certainly add any value to the car because of it.

According to the seller this is an aftermarket sunroof.

 

Now that would suck!! If true, it would be very tough sell. Every aftermarket sunroof I have seen was a hack job.

I have a Sunroof car and like it very much. There is 2 slots behind the seats where you store it while driving or you can put it in the trunk.

Its a cool option.

For sure that is not after market. I had a factory one on my 360 and it was identical to that. Also roof stores behind seats, not in trunk.

 

I had the opportunity to drive a red tan car with the factory roof.

I agree that it is clumsy design. Having it also reduces the headroom by an inch and a half.
