Suspension Bushings

Is it acceptable to have these bushings turned out of stainless?
They are available new, but at more than $60 ea. x 16 = $$$.
Locally, the cost is considerably less, so bottom line, is the material appropriate? 304 or 306?
Mine are very rusted (chromed steel) and only two escaped being stored in a brine jar by the previous keeper(s). Thank you for the advice. Regards, Alberto

I wouldn't try to substitute these bushing with other materials, as they are made of hardened steel and hard chromed on the friction sides (shinier surfaces). Besides, if You replace and service them appropriately/periodically they should last a "life time".

I bought replacement bushings about 2 1/2 years ago. I'll try to dig up the name of the place, but I remember that they mainly supply Maserati parts, and that they're in California. I don't remember what I paid, but I know that it wasn't anywhere near $60 apiece.

The website doesn't list the bushings (or any other Dino parts), but it might be worth a call or an email. 909-336-9389 / [email protected] I spoke with a guy named Jacques. They were substantially cheaper than anyone else, and the bushings work fine. (I don't know whether the L series ones are any different.)

I have been running with Jacques' suspension bushings for 3+ years and have had great experience. He told me they were from Castelhano, the same supplier as many other retailer's use. I'd buy them again.
