I have 1988 testarossa, there is no strut or prop rod to hold the front boot open. I cannot figure out what was originally there that I am missing. A picture would be wonderful.

There are 2 struts. One on each side. The one on the right is easy to change ( go thru the battery door ). On my 86 TR the left one was difficult because my car had no access thru the trunk. I had to do it with the left headlight in the up position and then to squeeze my hand in.

Yeah, there are two struts. Now the bad news: even brand spanking new ones don't hold the hood open. I found a piece of PVC pipe works. Not very classy but then again it's a classic.

Not true, if you get the correct rated lbs. they work.

You have to order the 512 TR struts. They work fine.

Ok let me be more specific. Brand new struts from the dealer. Worked great for less than a year. Really, a piece of PVC pipe (cut a bevel & spray paint it flat back), one side slips over the rubber bumper stop near the windshield. And the boot/hood will not get blown closed during a car show. FWIW.

And if you get those numbskulls to order the correct struts they will work fine. Been using them for years and never replaced a set yet.
