Testarossa Flywheel

My mechanic is currently in the process of servicing and replacing the clutch on my 86 Testarossa, and has recommended a new flywheel be purchased/installed. The one I currently have has some minor cracking in it, even after being machined.

The issue we're having is locating one brand new in box. I've had plenty of offers for used or resurfaced ones, most of which are in worse shape than mine, but I am preferably looking for brand new. I realize it is becoming more challenging to obtain parts for these cars, but I thought I would ask around here to see if anyone has any info on some new old stock or perhaps a new one in their possession.

136025 is the exact part number we're after.

Thanks Mark, we've actually been trying to get in touch with the seller to obtain additional pictures of the surface, just to be sure. I'm hoping this one works out, but if not the search continues.

 

$2600.00 for that??? Cheaper to have one made.

 

I had my 512TR one grainded (or how do you call that) and is really like new for less than $ 100.

I would never go for a new one for that absurd price; after all it is nothing very special .... and YES, all pics from my very own flywheel ... almost better than new !

Exactly. You get better materials and better machining from today's equipment for less money. Take the flywheel to a local machine shop and ask for a quote, you will get a better end product and piece of mind knowing you have a good piece!!

 

...he said his has cracks even after machining. Like brake rotors I suspect there is a minimum thickness requirement, he may already be down to that limit. Agree with all though, cost from OEM is insane.

 

Call Dave Helms at Scuderia Rampante.. He has one.. Its just been machined and its perfect..

I believe a machine shop could make one from scratch for less than $2600.

Given the difficulty we've been having, the thought had crossed our minds to get one made from scratch.

I will also put in a call to Dave and see what he has to say about that flywheel.

 

FWIW, Hill Engineering makes a 512TR/M (not std. Testarossa) flywheel, that we keep in stock here at Ricambi America:
