Tried to post once and thought it posted, unless it's in the wrong area and for that I appoligize. I came back from three week in Austrailia/New Zealand and started my 88TR and it fired right up and idled with the battery light on. Sometimes it does this and I press the accelerator and it goes out. This time when I press the accelerator, I get no increase in revs, the motor just idles no mater how much I press the pedal, and the battery light stays on. I turn it off and try a few more times, same thing. I turn it off and open the bonnet and check the battery cables and one is a little loose so I clean it up and tighten the cable. Start it up and everything is fine and I put 60 miles on a great day. Should I be looking at anything different and can someone explain how a bad connection at battery baterry might effect the electronic igintion system? Should I be looking at anything else.

Its' very concerning that you can wide open the throttle and absolutely nothing happens to the engine RPM's. Even if your TPS (Throttle Position Sensors) are out, it should still stall the engine or idle very roughly at best. The EMC system can adjust spark and fuel but not to that extent.
If you didn't mention the battery light issue I would have thought for sure it's your throttle linkage but that obviously is not the case.

Since you did mention the battery, could the problem be the fuel pump or relay not getting enough amps? If so, what explains getting the crank amps to the starter?

Keep us up to date if you don't mind.

Thanks, exactly what I could not understand. car is running great still and I have no clue what happened as it has not happened again after three great fall cruises. I was wondering if weak battery connection could bridge enough to start fine but provide a voltage imbalance to fuel pumps or ignition or alternator. I was also as mentioned able to replicate the issue several times before I cleaned and tightened the battery. I don't really want to try and replicate failure again, but would hate to have to idle home. in the past, and now still the battery light has been on after starting and goes out when I bump the throttle, but once I do that it stays off. car has no hesitation and runs great ... Did I say is sound great too

I think that the cause for the battery light not going out is that you can't increase the revs (not the other way around). I would search the threads for "TR won't rev". Could be lack of fuel pressure due to bad connectors, but in any case there is a lot of info on this site to help your systematic search.
