    It's driving me batty.

Like a swarm of bees with all the bells and whistles.

Anybody who has experienced this - what remedy truly works?

Taking Vitamin B Complex, B-6, B-12 - it helps, but... damn...

You would not like what I would say on this subject, fellow sufferer.

I have heard that it can be made quieter by becoming less stressed. So maybe you need a very long vacation or something to relax yourself.

The shower's a great relief, I hate a quiet room but I have not found anything that takes it totally away. They say sleeping with one of those sound machines help but I've never tried one.

Many meds can cause tinnitus. I make my living with my ears, and I have tinnitus which is intermittent, usually hits me when I come home and sit down. I think I filter it heavily days.
PM me any meds you are on, and I can tell you some. I tried wellbutrin to cut down on my 3 cigar/day habit. Thought I was going to claw my ears out of head.
Any dizziness? Low salt diet...could be meniere's dx. Low salt, diuretics, or shunt. See a good neurotologist, NOT an ENT. Not many in NV, but I can check. I know some in Houston, SAN, Omaha, SD.

Uro, your tinnitus is just the voices saying "Buy a Ferrari already" over and over.

Those little voices must sound a LOT like SFU and J4RE.

    :)

Wax, are you alone when you experience the problem? If not, then a sock or a pair of hearing protectors will muffle the sound.

My Dad got tinnitus as a result of middle ear infection and had it quite severely for several years. He tried most normal treatments but only had success with accupuncture (4-5 sessions?) and now, as far as I know he is cured from it.

Too much aspirin can cause this condition as well.

I don't take any prescriptions, and haven't for years and years, as that is for sissies.

I don't fancy the idea of witnessing a one act play of a person in a labcoat shrugging shoulders as he clinically utters Lou Reed's line from Heroin, "I guess... I guess... I guess I just don't know," gasping when he does so, then gasping again as I pay an exorbitant fee for that pointless melodrama.

Don't have the specific symptoms of Meniere's Disease - been there, done that with tests some 17-18 years ago. Still, am reading up on mimics, one of which has a term I like: "jugular megabulb." But, that's not it, either, as it's not pulsatile tinnitus.

    Tom,

I had massive vertigo and some tinittus issues back some years ago....saw several expert ENT's and all gave different opinions. Current medicine can do a lot of things, some borderline miracles...but as much as we know, there is an infinite amount we still don't have a clue about.

In my case it was a customer of mine who suggest I get my teeth totally checked-out. Even though I felt fine, I had all 4 wisdom teeth impacted. Upon getting them surgically removed, one of them was badly infected right down to the jawbone, it was ugly. The infectious fluid was draining into my sinuses and by theory my inner-ear. Once the surgery was done and I had some root-canals done as well...I got better.

In a club I was in, a guys wife had similar problems....I suggested the teeth, she had some work done....she got better. You'd be shocked the amazing gap of understanding conventional doctors have about teeth. Get your mouth checked, get metal out of your mouth, make sure everything is healthy. Eat right, take good vitamins, get some good exercise...give your body every chance to fix itself.

Remind youself, as bad as it is.....it could be worse, much worse!

    Good luck!

I had a workers' comp client in 2004 that ended up shooting himself because his work caused tinnitus was so bad. I filed a claim contending that his death was therefore work related and thus compensable under WC...I won at trail and at the WC Board Appellant level. The case has been pending at the Georgia Court of Appeals for about 6 months now...I expect a decision soon...hopefully affirming my win...

You're absolutely right on all counts.

But, been there, done that! We wax's have no Wisdom, because we have our Waxdom teeth yanked. They do not cooperate with other teeth well. At all. Brittle suckers, too. One was in 13 pieces by the time he got done. But, the last one...

I had to have it done one fine Monday by an Oral Surgeon in L.A. who'd touch it, as Dentist was afraid I'd die in his office if he touched it. Thing was, I'd cracked the filling on a Thursday night... and it was a 3-day weekend. Set up appointments through Answering Services with a few Dentists in the Larchmont District, each appointment 1 1/2 hours apart, just in case one would refuse... I'm sure you know the uh, drill - I could feel the poison (for lack of a better term) working from bottom jaw to over the top lip, mind feeling funny - oh, it was nerve-wracking. The X-Rays told the story. First Dentist was the last one, he said "There's only one Oral Surgeon I know who'd be able to handle this..." called the other Tooth Docs & cancelled. I was going Downtown.

So, made it to the Oral Surgeon - he ran his own Scans & Blind Joe Death had progressed even further- he said One of Two things was gonna happen - It would pulled, or I'd be dead within an hour. Then I went to work. I was 1 3/4 hours late, but, important business was at hand that day - not the least of which was distributing Payroll. Work or not, I have no doubt your experiences were just as much fun.

I have tinnutus bad. When I was young I had numerous ear infections. Today, 43 years later my ears ring all the time. I can still hear high pitched sounds even while they ring. If you could hear what I hear it would be deafning, I have gotten use to it and ignore it. But when I think about it, like composing this message it can drive you crazy. I do know that its worse when I first go to bed at night and like now when my allergies are acting up.
