Tire Question

havent driven my 430 in 5 months. what are chances of flat spots and what can be done if there are??thanks

 

Depends on the specific tire, as some are more prone to flat spotting than others. Apart from keeping your car up on jack stands, there's really not much you can do. Fortunately, it's not a big deal. If they are flat spotted, just driving the car slowly for a few miles should get rid of the flat spots.

 

Actually I have been told that keeping the car on jack stands is not a good thing unless you support the wheels.

No alternative then! Just drive it.

These aren't the same kind of flat spots you get when you lock up the brakes. Nothing to worry about; any thumping will go away about the time the oil warms up.

If you want to minimize these flat spots, just roll your car to a new position every few weeks of storage. Or, if you don't have room, jack it up, turn the wheels 45 degrees, and put it back down. Or, you can just ignore them. Or, you could drive your car more often. Sitting doesn't do them any good other than reduce the accumulated mileage.

 

As above, any flat spots will disappear after driving it for a few minutes. Overinflating the tires before storage might help. If you really can't stand them, you can try these, but I have no experience with them so I can't tell you if they actually work.
