    Hey guys,
Just got back from the doc and much to my pleasure I get to have my tonsils removed on the 12th of March :-/. Not worried about the surgery, but am a bit worried about the post surgery. I have heard it gets more and more painful for recovery the older you get after your early teens. I have always been prone to sore throats/strep throat so im not all that excited about this. What I wanted to know is if any of you have had this procedure too and discovered anything that helps? Certain drinks? Smoothies? Anything. I was told only soft food or 10 days, so im figuring i will be living off spaghettio's :-D. Anyways thanks guys, any tips or insider info would be great!

All I know is, you get to eat lots of ice cream. Just a question i have, do you know if removal of your tonsils can help you grow in height. I'm 5' 2", and have considered getting it done. Can you ask your doctor?

But that was from age 5 to age 16. It really works.

You'll have to buy all new clothes. and don't forget to get your DL and other IDs updated.

get ready for a career in the NBA, if you want it. Understand most players have an F cartoo so you'll fit right in.

    Ciao

I had my tonsils taken out when I was around 20. I did take a little over a week to fully recover. I do have some advice, don't get a milkshake on the way home from the surgery - I hadn't eaten within the last 18 hours, so the milkshake came right back up pretty soon afterwards! I did find eggs to be a good meal for the first few days.

You may have trouble talking, but that won't interfere with your ability to participate in Fchat. So man-up and stay connected. :)

I had it done when I was young.

All I remember is that eating mashed potatoes hurt!

    Good luck with your surgery

I had mine taken out when I was 25 (1994). It was pretty bad. However I was told by an ENT a few years later that post op discomfort is worse if the surgeon uses a laser. They did on me and it was no picnic. I suppose it is the thermal injury in addition to the rest of the proceedure that makes the recovery a bit more difficult. I am only guessing, though.

By the way, get about a weeks worth of some really good diet pills. Starving and not being able to swallow don't go together. It is nice to be able to knock the edge off the hunger pains for the week or so that you can't eat.

I had mine taken out in my mid 20s . It took about a 1 1/2 weeks to get back to normal . Jello was the food of choice for me , plus ice cream , soup & eggs.

Just got home. Pretty gorggy. Thanks for the tips scott and tommy. I didnt even think of jello.

Ya he used the laser on me, and cauterized the wounds afterwards. Right now the pain isnt so bad because I just got off MASSIVE amounts of pain killers through my IV.

Haha it was a tracker thing so they could see where I was at in the hospital at any given time. Thing was annoying as hell.
