Now this story will be very familiar to lots of you, but it was new to me. WOW what an intriguing story. One little tit bit was an unstamped 55 Mondial motor was a part of his horde and it has now been put in a car.

Tony Parravano was a mafia figure that spent it seems to much money on Maserati's and Ferrari's and the good things in life. He went on an extended all expense paid vacation compliments of the LA mob in the late 1950's never to be seen again. Real intriguing

Very interesting stories around Parravano. I have seen many of the cars he owned listed in races but always under the driver name so it’s great to know the owner/sponsor background too.

In a similar light I’m the current caretaker of Michelotto grp iv car 18905. That car was purchased by Allen Glick who was a front man for the mobs Las Vegas casinos. He owned and raced a number of different cars including my car and a 512 BBLM. I’ve been fortunate to have interviewed several people involved with the car early on and the mob related stories they tell are pretty wild. To me the history of these old race cars is as compelling as the cars themselves.

 

Absolutely yes. Maybe Tony went away on holidays with Jimmy Hoffer?

 

I was fortunate enough to have found one of his efforts for a 1957 Maserati Indianapolis attempt. It's the bespoke Hilborn Fuel Injection system for a 450/S engine that Parravano used in the Indy 500 attempt.
