I am getting ready for the track day at Mid-Ohio here on the 30th. I really want to take the Mondial but, being that it is convertible, it needs to have a roll bar. Does anyone know of a bolt in style roll bar that I could put in without altering the car or, should I just plan on taking the Porsche. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I would not consider using a bolt in roll bar. You need one welded and braced.

Most of the events around Texas allow convertables, but only in the green (slow and/or beginner) run class. Sorry, but that is just the way it is.

I've done a couple of these, they have the potential to be lots of fun.

BUT ... be prepared to be passed quite a lot, driving with your mirrors. There's a lot of really fast cars out there, and my 308 (and your Mondial) is eaten alive by all of the late model 430's, 360's, and the like. Let alone all of the fast non-F cars (Corvettes, for one example) with tons more power than you or I, and which will also be there.

At least I did bolster a lot of self-centered egos on the part of such as hopped-up Japanese import drivers who could later boast over beers to their buddies that their car "blew the doors off of a Ferrari!"

At the end of the day, I have decided that it's just not worth it any more with my 308, as there's far too many cars on the track at any given time, and every one of them (or, so it seems) passes me on the straight.

In any case, best of luck.

(edit: Upon further thought, I stand corrected. I did pass at least one car that I can recall in the two (2) years that I've done these. It was a Miata)

I was just a bit disappointed that I couldn't track my Mondi without a roll bar... until my friend had a little run-in with a wall at the track yesterday.

Now I can say I'm totally fine without a single lap on the track. I think I'll stick to go-karting to get my thrills. Much cheaper...
