Most of you are car dorks like myself, and feel that any trip deserves a stop by the local F-dealer and / or other dealers. I figured we should start a thread regarding "must see" spots for our fellow chatters.

I was just in San Francisco briefly. Ferrari of SF is not really worth the trip, other than the stunning drive to it (from the city, over the Golden Gate Bridge, around Sausalito). Its a small shop, 5 used in the F-showroom, 5 cars in the Mazer showroom. Their service department is apparently 5-6 miles away. They were not very friendly. There is another independent dealer in the city, but did not have a chance to stop by.

Cool idea for a thread. You could post this even in the general F section, but I'm happy to keep it here for a chat amongst friends.

Here a few comments from my side as I totally agree, a travel without a pilgrimage to a Ferrari place is a wasted trip...

    - Beverly Hills is THE place for Ferraris in the US. Aside from the local Ferrari dealer, there are all the independents like Symbolic and Heritage and others. Also the Peterson car museum.

    - NYC is going to have a dealership soon. At this moment the local Exoticar shop is as good as it gets. Oh wait: There is Alain Prost's Ferrari F1 in the modern art museum. Chinetti's shop is long gone, nothing there to remind you of it.

    - Connecticut isn't too bad with one official dealer and one independent one. When I was there, I had the dubious honor to stand beneath Petty Hearst's Maranello. Ralph Lauren has some cars there as well.

    - Indianapolis has the rare Indy Ferrari in the museum. Worthwhile seeing.

    - In Europe I've been to Ferrari dealerships in Frankfurt and Zurich - Foitek ex F1 driver -, but obviously the place to be is Maranello. Even Modena is interesting, especially for Maser fans. Turin has the Fiat museum and the Pininfarina museum, cool place I haven't made yet, but are on my list of things to do.

    - Bilbao has a Ferrari shop just outside the Guggenheim museum. Although fotography is a big nono I snatched a unique shot of a 360 with the famous flower dog in the background. After that shot, they threw me out. Story of my life...

    - Monaco is of course special, but only over the F1 weekend. Then it is Ferrari heaven. Aside from that there is a very cool car museum West of Nice with a unique Ferrari collection.

    - Mulhouse near Basel has the Schlumpf museum with the biggest Bugatti collection in the world and a series of cool F1 and Le Mans Ferraris.

However aside from Maranello my favourite museum/place is the 250 museum in San Marino. A collection of all 250 Ferraris, unreal.

    Andreas,

Don't know if I ever asked you about this one, as you seem to be our European expert, but what about this dealer?

    http://www.auto-salon-singen.com/

Based on the pics alone, I think it would be worth a visit...

My favorite trip is to zip up to LFSC, ( as the guys in the service shop seem to be some of the most friendly people you can meet and the showroom is spectacular, ) then zip from small farm town to farm town on the Ill/WI border. Its fun to pull in a Ferrari or H2 in a little drive-in diner like Dogs-n-Suds.

These guys are legit and one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) Ferrari dealers in Germany and perhaps the world. They've been in biz for quite a while. Sometimes their list shows something funky and it has been argued even here on FChat how legit some of the cars are, but for the most part you can take them at face value.

I have never been to their place though. Singen is a bit out of my way.

There are a couple Exotic Car Dealers in Scottsdale,AZ.Just West of the Scottsdale Airport,In North Scottsdale. And,some newer Exotic Car Dealers by the Loop 101 and Scottsdale Rd. Scottsdale Lotus, and a few other Dealers that have a big Variety of all sorts of Exotic Cars.

Also, the Barrett-Jackson Showroom on south Scottsdale Rd. Along with a couple other Exotic Car Dealers. And,the Scottsdale Ferrari Dealer on McDowell,by where alot of the Auto Dealerships are located. (It's the "Western Av." of Scottsdale...:) )

Also,a place that I haven't checked out yet. But,North of there,in Cave Creek,is a place called "Cave Creek Classics". I've seen ads for cars that they have For Sale. We're talking High End,and Extreme Classics.

Then, you can call Mr.Hooper at Italian Design and Racing,in Deer Valley,(NorthWest Phoenix Area-I-17 and Deer Valley Rd.) He sells all sorts of Ferrari Parts,288GTO Rebodies,(has a couple there) And all sorts of neat stuff. He knows alot about Ferrari's and would probably love to talk to you about Ferrari. If you need something for your car,he most likely has it. I bought some parts from him before.

If anyone is ever going out that way,let me know. I'll map out where everything is for you. All are easy to Find. And,worth the time to check out.

Kewl, thanks Frank! I'll make sure I'll talk to you before my next trip to Az. I think somewhere in Az is also that other guy who builds those amazing 250 GTO replicas.

I am heading to Vagas on Sat. Where should I go to see some nice cars.I might rent a 355 for 4 hours and run up to the dam. It will cost me about $ 600.00 to do it so I will have to wait to see if I win anything at the tables first. Is Toban Motors worth the drive to see.

Oh yeah....Cruising a Ferrari through the Twisties at Hoover Dam would definitely be cool. Can't go fast,though...but,maybe if you go there really early, there won't be too much traffic....

I did that a few years ago, great fun. Going to the Dam is one idea. I did that with a 348. But I think doing Red Rock Canyon National Park is more fun. You can't go fast there, but it is a beautiful place and going to the park you can put the pedal to the metal on the highway. Have a blast!

Personally I'd rent the 360 though.

Check out the Auto Collection at the Imperial Palace. There is always a coupon for free admission in the tourist magazines ("What's On", etc.). Most of the cars there are actually for sale, so the display changes...each time I have gone there, it has been different.

Good call, that completely slipped my mind.

I was there last winter and the collection was still pretty good. They had a few Ferraris but mainly focused on some one-off Astons and American muscle cars. By far the most interesting was the Jaguar XJ220 and automatic AC Shelby Cobra. Compare to my last visit it was a bit disapointing because...

When I was in high school back in the mid 90s I remember going there and being completely knocked out of my sneakers. The collection was a little more rare: Jackie O's personal Linclon, FDR's presidential Caddie, Mussolini's ride, Hitler's Benz and cap, Chuchills armored limo, Japan's Emperor's ride, the very first Shelby worked Cobra, a few Porsche 962s, I even think one of JFKs first cars.

Chuck is right, if you are a car buff this is a stop to see. At the Forum Shops in some art gallery they have a really worked over aquatic theme 348.
