What company or what is the best and cheapest way possible to have unlimited bandwidth? something like youtube servers or Hulu servers? can someone do a break down ? Thanks in advance.
It's always going to be based on the actual bandwidth usage. If you have a website you think may become really popular, then you would want to work out a deal with a host that has access to large bandwidth. Once you outgrow that host, then you can talk directly to the big boys. It's pretty easy to connect to larger and larger pipes as your usage grows, and would be hugely expensive, IMO, to connect to a big pipe right off the bat. You also have to keep in mind the computing power required to feed that large a pipe. But I digress.. When you get to the real bandwidth users out there, those deals are negotiated directly with the backbone providers. If you look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_network ...and go down to "Commercial CDN's", those are the companies you want to talk to about "unlimited bandwidth". As an example, Netflix streaming movies makes up about 20% of the entire network traffic of the USA, and they have bandwidth provided by Level 3. Youtube has agreements with multiple CDN's, including Akamai. IIRC, Google (which includes Youtube) accounts for something like 10% of all internet traffic. So when you get to that level, you're up there with the biggest of the big, and those deals are negotiated directly with the CDN's.
Thanks Mike, I am thinking of launching my own network streaming TV all day. Level 3 is a good company, and I met a few of them who were selling capacity a while back. Did not dare ask them for any quotes.. lol I would take your suggestion and try it out and see how it goes with one of the providers and see if I grow from there. Just doing some number crushing, as it add up, and licensing is the biggest issue. Managed to speak to IP Lawyers and found a way.
