Well finally it is that tiime of the year to book my tickets for the 2007 USGP. In the past times that I have gone to race I have never stayed in Indianapolis, I got hotel rooms in near by towns. This time I would like to stay in the city. Does anyone know of any good bars/clubs/events (at are going to be held on the saturday night before the race).

There are a lot of cool places to choose from in downtown. I ran into a few F1 execs running around downtown last year.

Downtown is pretty crazy on Saturday night. It's hard NOT to find something to do! There are some decent clubs and bars (dress codes).

I'm bedding down at the Marriot this year. Llast year we stayed at the Conrad, waited over an hour for our car on Sunday morning before the race, don't get me started! We ran into JPM and Jenson Button though, so that was something. I highly recommend staying downtown if you can.

It is lots of fun. That's why I 'm going back.
Look for me. I'll be the guy wearing the red shirt and driving the pimped out Cadillac DTS. . .

It'll be my first time in Indy; what constitutes a dress code???

Do strip clubs have dress codes? ;)

nothing against indy but the usgp should be somewhere else....the road course at indy is just boring and pitiful. f1 cars need to race at the best race tracks and indy is not the best road course in america. not at all.

We all know that the course isn't the greatest and that there are many better tracks in America, but it's complicated. First of all, a track has to have facilities up the Formula 1's standards, which most tracks don't have. Second, the location of the track must have sufficient hotels. Indianapolis has both of these things.

The solution is Las Vegas. Steve Wynn should get rid of that overpriced golf course behind his grand hotel and replace it with a state of the art race track to host the GP. Plenty of hotels and amenities everywhere and close airport location. And the rest of the year, we could take our own rides there and run them on a pay-per-lap basis like the Nurburgring. :)

That is exactly what I was thinking and I wish it was that simple. Another reason why Indy was chosen is probably because it is in the middle of the U.S. Las Vegas has great amenities, but it's way off the West side of the country.

I thought the same thing, but the golf course is not large enough to hold an entire track.

But combine running the track thru the golf course and the strip, and you might be on to something.
