    It's a V10!

    -Even firing!
    -450hp!
-Direct fuel injection and OBD2 diagnostics!
    -Designed for mid-engine!
    -Fits the F355!
    -6 speed with gated shifter!
    -Reliable!
    -Cheap!

However, it's not manufactured by Ferrari.

    What do you think?

Need more info. What did the engine and trans come from originally? Is it the 5.2 Audi V10?

Shrug - a Ferrari is a Ferrari because of the engine. You take away it's soul by putting something else in imo. If I wanted a v10 I'd get an Audi R8, Viper, M5, Gallardo, Huracan etc. I'm not sure what you get by putting one in a 355 unless you're trying to save money in the worst way possible?

I waste a lot of money on cars, but engine swaps are lost on me. So much work just to light that money on fire. Not to mention you’re taking the soul out of the car.

A mechanical exercise like this is like using the most sophisticated sex doll instead of an actual woman. It’s a simulation.

Going from ITB cable throttle, rod shifter beautifully symmetrical Ferrari engine to direct injected, drive by wire, cable shift Audi.

I'm all for modifications but this doesn't do anything for me.

This engine would be much more -correct- in a 911 (if it fit) and I would still hate it.

Hmm, Boxster maybe....Which actually has an audi bolt pattern gearbox. That could be interesting and cheap enough if you grab an IMS failure car to be worth the project.

What do I think? I'll be nice and simply say I think it's wrong. Just because you can does not mean that you should.

I love the confidence to post this here! Bold move knowing that most Ferrari guys are purists and want the car as stock as it was when it rolled out of the factory. While I agree that I wouldn't have done this particular project because you'd lose the sound and essence of Ferrari in so doing, I respect the putting this out there to get blasted with all of the answers to your "why not?" question.

…and to think this all just started out by looking for a replacement for the unfindable 2.7 MAF sensor.

I don't think even most of the people posting in this thread are purists, I'm definitely not, I love me a hot rod Ferrari. But a non Ferrari engine in a Ferrari, which is known first and foremost for their engines, is a step too far for most Ferrari fans, purist or not. It's like having a kit car - only a skin deep appreciation for the car. A Ferrari in appearance only, which isn't a Ferrari.

I agree. I love swaps but a Ferrari is an engine first.
I'm sure you know who said this: “When you buy a Ferrari you pay for the engine, I will give the rest of the car for free” .

So if you really want to do a swap, do a swap with a better Ferrari engine in it!

Fantastic sound, like Formula 1. Nobody can say it does not sound like a Ferrari.

Looks great - A fantastic project . Ignore the naysayers and keep doing what you’re doing.

Many posters can’t even change brake pads or their own oil and can’t or won’t appreciate what you’ve done.
