Recently I bought some new books which I think are worth buying.

The first is a triple slipcased volume "Trieste-Opicina" by about the 60 years this italian hill climb race was held from 1911 until 1971. The third book is a soft bound booklet with results. The ltd. edition book was written by a group of experts like John de Boer, Marcel Massini and Adolfo Orsi and photography was from the period photographer Adriano de Rota. Many Ferraris and Maseratis participated in this climb and the books are loaded with beautiful period high quality photographs. It is written in italian and english.

The second is not about Ferrari but about another fine italian make: Cisitalia.
This italian written book by Mario Simoni with title "Un sogno chiamato Cisitalia" with subtitle "202 la vera storia dell'auto piu bella del mundo" is lavishly illustrated with period and recent photography and gives the reader insight into the history of this make. Being written in italian is no reason not to buy this book.

Last but not least "Ottovu" by Tony Adriaensens. A massive 2 volume tome about the 8V Fiats and Siata's. Tony worked 11 years on this book and the result is incredible. Loaded with period photography all serial numbers are accounted for. One of the best books I have ever seen. Ltd. edition, not cheap.

I'm waiting until saturday to see the copy of Tony's 8V/Siata book a friend bought at Retromobile. I understand it's superb, as is the Alfa GTA book Tony did, but this new book is 395 Euros plus 45 Euros post to the US...almost $600. I can't see 1500 copies of the book selling at that price.

Here in the US there are few places that will import obscure car books, especially if they aren't in English...so you have to do it yourself..

Tony Kravanek was kind enough to bring his Siata/8V book and his Bucciali book to the meeting today. They both are superb. The Bucciali book is 79 Euros plus shipping. Unfortunately for the average guy, car books with any real content are getting rather expensive.
