I am thinking of going to FIOS, since comcast has make SpeedTV a premium chanel.

How does the Fiberoptic TV compare to cable?

I'd love to get FiOS just because of the insanely fast 'net speeds (top tier is 30Mbps I think!). Unfortunately they don't seem to offer it in my building yet, and considering RCN has the contract, I don't think they ever will :(

    Anyone here have it?

Verizon's web site says it may be available for my area, but a phone call to Verizon yields "Not available yet and no date has been set". But I've heard that message for over 3 years now. I'd LOVE Fiber! (not the raisin brand kind)

I have Fios for internet, along with Verizon's Voicewing, (phone over the internet) for my long distance. I love it and that is at the slowest speed offered. When I had Verizon's DSL I had an occassional problem with the phone service. Not anymore.

Fios TV service won't be available for a few months so I can't comment on that. I will be switching to it when it becomes available.

I want FIOS so much.... Currently I'm stuck with Verizon DSL - old 1.5Mbps... cannot even upgrade to 3 Mbps since I have old phone wires. Also no chances for cable - only Comcast is around and they are not better then my DSL.

Is there any hope for me? Any 3rd party?

Just got FIOS. The internet is much faster and the picture quality is slightly better than cable. Go for it!

we have FIOS in the shop. The internet is the fastest i've had anywhere, even compared to when i was in school with a T1 line. we don't have the TV yet, but it was worth it just for the internet and phone. there's a bunch of hardware though, like 3 big (cablebox) sized boxes that have to be installed somewhere, so be aware of that when you order
