    I blame the 'handlers' and the media, kinda like someone else we all know
    here in the USA....

    That would be a shame, kinda like when they shortened races in the USA back in, was it 73 or 74 because of the 'oil crisis'?

    Purely out of curiosity, how many of these “modern behavioral professionals” are affiliated with an Autism foundation that has a vested interest in commandeering highly intelligent people from history to illustrate the potential of someone on the spectrum? I say this because I highly doubt the man responsible for writing “Araby,” a profoundly emotional coming of age story, falls on the spectrum. Being sensitive to light and disliking loud noises does not make someone autistic.

    As someone who has worked with children with Asperger’s and ASD for over 14 years, I’m tired of hearing it referred to as a “super power,” when the reality is that it’s an often debilitating condition, and the common thread is the struggle with the figurative, not the literal.

    2 of my brothers have Aspergers and it definitely is NOT an advantage. They manage just fine but so often I hear the Einstein crap and like you say, people project it as if it's a gift. It really isn't.
