Christina and I were talking about this earlier this evening, actually. No word on her end... although he's supposed to be in Jakarta, which is on the other side of the island.

Same here. I've had this in the back of my mind since hearing about the Tsunami and it's been bugging me...but I think that I've ignored it and not said anything for the obvious reasons. Vikram, I hope all is well with you, your family and loved ones. We look forward to hearing from you ASAP and until then we're wishing you and yours all the best.

    I thought that was lunch?

I just spent the last hour or so trying to find an Indonesian "White Pages" with no luck. On the plus side, if you need a plumber in Jakarta, you can find one here

    Vik Hora phone home!

Vik must have sensed that we were talking about him. All is well - he's fine and still in Jakarta.

This is great news to hear!!

A run on Sunday would be great!!! Salt & sand free roads, no other traffic (most people will be recovering from hangovers...) on the roads. Too bad my car is with Gus @ Technik1. I'd be with you in spirit!!!

Again, great to hear that Vik's ok!!!

    I'M OK!

Many thanks to Noah and others for all your concern - I'm very touched. As many of you know, I'm visiting my parents in Jakarta, Indonesia. Jakarta was sufficiently removed from the epicenter, and remained untouched - we didn't even feel a tremor. However, the utter destruction in Northern Indonesia (the Aceh province) as well as in the many countries nearby (and some far away), has emotionally hit close to home, especially as the death toll figures have risen form the intial 6,000 to the now 80,000+ figures, and are projected to go north of 100,000.

JohnnyGQ and TomF-1, thanks for updating the group. I would have let all of you know earlier, but an internet connection is a difficult thing to come by here. I'll be back on the 2nd of Jan, and I look forward to catching up with all of you.

It feels a little odd writing this in light of what has happened, but best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season - I look forward to more runs, more EC fun, and a continued strengthening of our friendships in 2005.

    Regards,
    Vik.

Horrific tragedy over there, hope you and your family are all safe. May the reach of this terrible event not affect you family's friends and relatives. Safe return.

Greatly relieved you and family are ok.

Please let me (us) know if from firsthand knowledge you know of perhaps some effective way (than the usual channels) to directly aid those in need in your area.
