I personally have found VWvortex to be more of a tuner forum. That being said, at the top of each generations jetta/golf subforum is a thread packed with links to threads full of knowldge and tidbits on EVERYTHING.

Here's the link to the MKIV thread that I speak of for an example: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?/id=1835863

    hope that helps!

For me it is a toss up between VWvortex and GolfMKV.

I have been on VWvortex since 2001 and have a few more (okay about 16,000) more posts on vwvortex. I find that generally, there is MUCH more information on VWvortex.

GolfMKV.com tends to be a little bit more unreliable and with a forum heading of "MKV vs." that showcases street racing etc, it tends to be a little less restrictive as far as moderation.

VWvortex tends to have a few elitists and opinionated jokesters that try to ruin it for everyone. Be careful asking a "NoOb" question as you will be quickly shunned. Make sure to check out the FAQ sections and DIY's. There are some incredibly informative DIY's out there for pretty much anything. The Forum is inconsistently over moderated. Random threads get black-holed or locked for going a shy off topic, while others stay open for no reason at all.

Exactly. Depends on what type of VW info you're looking for. I visit the vortex several times a day. Funny thing about the place is that I often get most of my up to the date info about the automotive world from tons of useful threads in "The Car Lounge" (although people will argue TCL is NOT VWVortex)

TCL is great peoples.. tends to be a bit more user-regulated much like this forum. Any rebels are quickly shunned. Although you still get the bandwagoners. For a while it was the miata, then it was the GTO.. not really sure what it is now.

Biggest air cooled elitest, actually biggest elitist board i've ever experienced. Lots of knowledge but anything beyond complete stock resto is shunned, by most of theh snobs on there. also, the guys on here can recite what nut/bolt goes where, what color it was originally etc. It is insane some of the knowledge on there.

More accepting, but a lot of the users are young. Which is limiting on the amount of info you'll be able to get, mostly.
