I thought there were a few threads on the topic, but I can't seem to find them.

I'm starting to wear my watches out and about more and would like to get them insured. I don't have a homeowners policy, so a jewelry rider is out.

Anyone have any experience or recommendations for a standalone policy?

I'd be curious about this as well.

Never thought of having insurance on watches. Makes sense though. I'll have to keep an eye on this thread.

My wife and I have our watches/jewelry covered through a rider on our homeowners insurance. Awefully expensive. In fact, every time I look at it, I think of cancelling.

I have mine on my homeowners as a jewelry rider.

Need receipts or appraisals to establish value.

I have been doing some research and it appears the Chubb and Jewelers Mutual seem to be the big two for non rider policies. Jewelers Mutual appears to be the preferred insurer if you are looking for a replacement policy and Chubb if you are looking for a defined value policy.

Since you don't have a homeowner's policy, you can purchase a renter's policy instead, and have the watches scheduled individually for their appraised value. It isn't cheap, but well worth the money.

I've used Jewelers Mutual Insurance for years, to cover all our high end jewelry and watches. We've used it once when my wife lost a diamond stud earring, no problems with the claim. Its a replacement type of insurance. To give you an example my Rolex Daytona tu-tone is 176.00 per year.
