I am in the process of putting the 430 away for the winter, and I am wondering how people keep mice out of the exhaust. I was thinking of using blue painters tape to keep them out along with the car cover. Has anyone tried this or is there a better solution? I have never had a rodent problem, but just want to make sure. Thanks

I've heard dog hair but never tried it. Moth balls are another idea. Tried it last year with success but i had it in a bubble. Now that's a sure fire way to keep rodents out. Good for condensation also :)

100% correct. But make sure you make a note to yourself that it's in there, and be sure to get it all out in the spring. Steel wool is highly flamable.

Car bubble is a really great way to store a vehicle, but rodents can/do chew through wood and fiberglass amoung other things... some 10 mil plastic isn't "sure fire"

If you anticipate a rodent problem then the exhaust is the least of your worries. When they get inside or anywhere in the engine compartment, and they will, they will chew up the wiring, store their food and defecate on everything.
I have found the best way to keep them out is to keep them from getting to prize in the first place. I use bait all around the garage and glue traps near the tires. I have yet to have any mice in any car since I have started this.

Maybe a stupid question, but of what harm are mice in an exhaust? In spring I would just ensure that they have left before firing up the engine.

If this is a joke, please understand that Germans do not understand jokes! ;) ;) ;)

Mice like cars because there is lots of soft stuff (carpet, padding etc) for them to pull out and build nests with. If they pack the material deep down into the holes of a muffler you can get full on blockage or stuff thats really hard to get out and a potential fire hazzard.

I keep a rat trap with a peanut in a shell attached to the trigger under the car.Never fails and if the peanut is attached well it's good for multiple uses. Gts Bruce
