Sure. Have a restored 1955 Hacker utility 20ft with a 300hp Hemi. Reprofiled bottom to fight the afternoon chop on Tahoe. Good ski boat also.

Here's one that I was trying to save. Sank at the dock years ago. Probably too far gone by now. The owner abandoned it and the dock owner never got back to me with any info as to exactly when or how he was going to try and save it or sell it. I lost interest in it. I found a guy with a 45 foot Chris Craft of 1951 vintage down in Texas. It's probably available for a few thousand. Needs resto. Unfortunately, even if the owner GAVE me the boat, it would cost several thousand dollars of money, time, and effort to actually get it back here to Arkansas. Also found a 49 foot Chris Craft of the same vintage that is up for grabs in Texas. Same logistics problems. You have to find somebody with a trailer that can haul a boat of that size. And the problem with both of those old boats that I found is: The owner wants to keep the trailer on one of them, and the homebrew trailer on the other boat only has one axle. Totally unsuitable for actually towing down the highway. So even if you showed up with your own trailer, how do you lift a 20,000 pound wooden boat OFF of one trailer and onto another? More problems.

It was a figment of your imagination, a will-o-the-wisp, swamp gas. It never happened.

And by the way, I actually met your avatar and shook his hand. The infamous Frank Bonner, aka Herb Tarlek from WKRP in Cincinatti. He was down here at the TV station one day years ago. He's from Arkansas.

A family friend had a wood boat like the one at the top of this thread. He left it to his grandson who really did a nice job fixing it up. It's small but was a blast to cruise around in.

That thing doesn't need resto, it needs a gallon of gas and a match.

Just save the chassis # for the recreation.

I misplaced my notes from "Part Two" and haven't taken the time to do the research again :( One of these days the mood will strike and it'll be in your inbox!

PS, I'm through with the Wooden F50 game, you win. ;)

I love wooden boats - hope to build a few some fine days/weeks/months/years.

The F-Chatter known as jasonmiller.com knows a thing or 2 about 'em.
