Interesting, his dad's car from France, amazingly low miles, I bet no major service was ever done, only a new clutch.

    description:
Hi we are selling a garaged kept 1989 Ferrari Mondial T,with only just over 4,800 miles. This car has been hardly used. It belonged to my farther who was a diplomat in France for many years. It has had all the converion's done to meet epa and us titling requirments. Only repair done on this car since we've had it here is the replacement of the clucth at Ferrari of washington d.c located in Sterling Virginia. The vin# is ZFFKD32B000080097 The car is located in Bowie Md, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Looks like someone didn't know how to drive a standard shift car. A new clutch within 4.800 miles might indicate the fact that the owner lived on top of a very steep hill :):)

This is a car that tickles my fancy!!

    Cheers, Hank

I'm curious to see what this car is going to be bid up to. What do you guys think as far as value for this car with the mileage?

Good question. The t coupes usually hold their value compared to the cabs, considering that only 40 something were sold in the usa. However, this is a Euro so it's not a member of that elite club.

I noticed the cat thermocouple ecus are loose in the front trunk. Hopefully new ones were installed and these were kept for some reason. The miles are low but from the photos the car is not a time capsule, and needs some cosmetic work.

However, If I had the cash, it would be fun to have in the garage for say $30,000?

It is very hard to truly judge the value of a car with just pictures but I would say if you could get this car for 30k you would be doing well. If the car was stored right and all the rubber isn't dryed out then a weekend spend sprucing it up should bring it back to a good cosmetic condition. However if everything is dry rotted it could be a moneypit.

I think getting $30k US would be generous in today's market. Maybe more in a few years when the economy bounces back.
It needs some cosmetic and a major service that will factor in the price. It does not look pristine condition at all, and therefore I think its value is somewhere in the low to mid $20k range.
///NADA Guides prices this 89 Coupe at:
    Low Retail = $23,200
    Avg Retail = $27,400
    hi retail = $31,300

This would be worth a little work. As a Euro, it is a bit lighter and perhaps a little more umph. I remember Paul Frere's test of a Euro Mondial T as pretty amazing.

And, at least to me, it has NO sunroof which I view as a plus.

Another plus; unlike its U.S. spec brethren, this car is not rare so there would be no remorse in making modifications. I'd chuck out the black interior right away.

It's pretty dang tempting.... and of course it would be a paperwork nightmare.

Does anyone know if a 2 belt 3.4 liter will bolt into a single belt 3.4 place?

    Paperwork? Hmm...

The ad does say that the EPA and US "titleling" requirements are completed. However, there's no mention of import papers.

Regarding other belts... this one is mouse-free.

Hey, if it were any color except red I'd be in MD looking at it right now... and bidding as well. :)

    Good luck to you!

I'd need to see the car in person before seriously bidding. Why does the son of a Diplomat not know how to speak or spell english? The car looks a bit like it may have been stored under a tarp in a field. I only say that as it appears there is some rust on some of the lug nuts. My 60K 87 Mondi that's been driven in every sort of weather has no rust on the lugs, but they are heavily worn. The math isn't adding up on this car.

I do like the yellow lights, makes it interesting. I'd need to have a conversation and see the car to feel like this wasn't some form of game.

A diplomat in France. Maybe not a US but they living in Washington now. Maybe now his father is the diplomat to the US. A bit too easy to do spell check today. Trust but verify they say.

Maybe it's just my work this week making me skeptical of everything?

This whole sordid affair has started me thinking about a Mondial t, if I could get in one reasonably. I even have a couple ideas already for some 'minor' tweaks, starting with seats like Hanks.

    You bastards.

Don't sweat it. I'll drive it down to Texas when you win it!!!

BTW.. If it doesn't need tires now, it will when you get it.
