Having been recently made aware of this thread due to the above bringatrailer.com listing, I would like to show my support for the OP in bringing this situation to light. I also stand with the community, and categorically deplore this nefarious behavior. Furthermore I made the same auction house aware as the OP back in December via email, of another spurious tool kit that had been auctioned.

On a more positive note it does now however seem apparent that the Italian vendor has ceased such activity.

Are you the consignor of the 250 kit now on BAT? If so best of luck with the sale.

Yes, the BAT listing is mine. I would like to make a disclaimer that I am not trying to promote that listing here.

You can see my listing differs greatly to the fake kits that have been circulating. There are over 100 photos (exhaustive I know, but essential for showing originality), demonstrating close ups of stampings on the Oil Filter Wrench, Spark Plug Wrench, 500g hammer, lengths of screwdrivers, as well as close ups of the pebbled/grained vinyl tool roll.

The "wear" on the hammer and jack looks fake in the pics also.

The ones posted had unnatural "wear" patterns readily identifiable with the naked eye.

AI can spot fraudulent patterns in pics, text, chain of events, but there may be too much at stake for complete transparency.
Auction biz is one of the last truly archaic fields.

I purchased a yellow vintage Shell dust cloth from them. It was authentic and the transaction was fine.

Take a look at the mash-up "Daytona" toolkit on BaT now.

If it follows that "Modena Classics" sign listing and comments section route, it's not going to end well it appears.

For comparison , I pulled my tool kit for a cleaning. 1960 outside plug 250.. PF . This is also applicable to SWB , Cal Spy, etc. variations . I consider the condition excellent, even with some light tears and staining .. 63 years old after all . Image Unavailable, Please Login

Andrew, yes, you are missing the sparkplug wrench. You just cannot remove plugs from an OP car with a long wrench like that. IP motors require a long wrench.

    Hi Andrew,

No, John is right. If your PF is outside plug your spark plug tool should have the short handle. If you try to change plugs with the one you have you will realise it will not work.

The contents appear to be more consistent with inside plug rather than outside plug. the chiave per tambura is for drum brake cars, and the spark plug wrench is for inside plug. The jack has wonderful patina, love it.
