    "Dear Citibank Member,

This email was sent by the Citibank server to verify your e-mail
address. You must complete this process by clicking on the link

Card number and PIN that you use on ATM.
This is done for your protection because some of
our members no longer have access to their email addresses and
we must verify it. This is to prevent any type of online fraud .
Citibank is made to protect your identity online.

To verify your e-mail address and protect your Citibank account,
click on the link below. If nothing happens when you click on the
link (or if you use AOL), copy and paste the link into

A.) I do not have an account with citibank
B.) Citibank, or any other bank, would never ask for this info!
How would this PROTECT my citibank account, assuming i even had one? I never even gave my bank my email address. They have my mailing address and that should be good enough for them.
    Anyone else get this crap?

I got a similar email for ebay. Said they wanted to verify my credit card number...yeah right! What is a dead give away is that "/popup" at the end of the address. You may be lost is a pop up hell, unable to escape, while they ravage your credit.

Anybody else getting these from their ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Getting more convincing looking each time... and I'm sure many have been suckered.

I forward mine to the fraud department. Pronto.

Last summer I received a similar email from my provider, verizon.
I trashed it because I knew it was a fraud.

A couple months later and my account gets shut off.

After a couple of calls to get it all sorted out, this is what happened.

The email was legit. My wife misplaced a credit card so we canceled it.
We were paying the ISP with that cc.
When the cc went dead they sent me an email asking for a new cc number. When I blew them off, they pulled the plug on me.

Even knowing this, I would do exactly the same thing today. The cost of being taken in a fraud is just too high.

Did they ask for the cc in the reply over a normal email? Why would they be stupid enough to do that? That is not secure, they mustbe stupid.
