There was a story many years ago about him taking his kid to school in the 250GTO while it was snowing!

It says he has owned the 250 longer than almost all other owners have and when he bought it he paid more than anybody else had ever paid for a 250 up to that point in time.

Hey, nice picture. That's one of only 4 street legal GTR's. I believe all four have race history too. May not be as significant as Jim G's street legal GT40 and P4, but it's probably as close as a modern car could get.

I have a book "Into the red" written by Mason and some journalist.
There they test a couple of Masons cars. With the book came an audio CD as well. quite fun to listen to. Especially the BRM v16 GP-car. That sound is amazing.

I think they test all of the cars that banana boat listed.
I definatly recommend the book to you. Its a great read.

Thanks for the info Mark. Didn't know Mason's car was a test mule.

I've seen two street legal GTR's for sale on a couple of websites. Both have race history. One came in 5th in Le Mans 1995. The other finished 11th in Le Mans 1996. Not sure if they can be made street legal in the U.S. though.

Nick is a very nice guy. At the Goodwood Festival of Speed you go up one at a time against the clock. You wait at the top for those in your group to finish and you all drive down together. We were standing at the top looking out over a Chapparal, a P4, a 250 GT0, a P3, A 712 Can Am, and my MK-IV.
    "Pretty Special." He said.
(BTW McLaren F1's finished 1,2,3,4,5 at LeMans. Not bad)

I just saw in the DuPont Registry a replica something-or-other that was supposedly built for him. I've always liked the guy for Pink Floyd, but even more so for his car mania. Similar but different--isn't Mark Knopfler into sports cars, too?

Yes - Knopfler (like Clapton) is also into cars. In the Ferrari - Victory by Design show, the silver 275 GTB was his.
