Reducing weight of 360 or Stradale bumpers?

    An interesting note in the Forza article on Novitec's 360:

    "Incidentally, the stock factory bumpers weigh around 40 pounds each compared to just under nine pounds for those in carbon fiber."

    I doubt the plastic vs. carbon fiber makes that big a difference... or does it? I would guess that they are eliminating some heavy steel reinforcing that's required of car mfgers by various governments (like US and Germany). Thoughts?

    If so, I wonder if its possible to just remove the excess steel from our existing 360 bumpers?

    Alternatively, I wonder what it would cost to have Valence or similar make up a visual match to the stock bumper in carbon fiber without the steel.


    Note that 31 pounds per bumper (62 lbs total) would account for a large chunk of the mystery 154lbs of excess weight on our 360s and Stradales. And if we can easily eliminate that by cutting some extra steel off our bumpers...
