328 Engine Lid Insulation?

    Speaking of engine lid insulation...Does anyone know if the 328 is "supposed" to have insulation under the small painted section. It sure does get hot. Was thinking of putting on some of that foil-covered insulation from West Marine.

    If you are referring to the part that is surrounded by the louvred grill, no insulation. If you are referring to the part over the luggage compartment, the early 328s were painted black and the later ones were carpeted.

    BTW, regarding the front lid, the under suface was first painted black then body colored then carpeted,
