Bought a variety of diff wines today...burgundy, Bordeaux, Beaujolais, etc from a variety of makers. Looking for something different than my usual blends from Napa.

If anyone has a reco for a complex, robust red, please share.

My go-to’s are Pontet-Canet Pauillac Grand Cru 2009, Cos D’Estournel St-Estephe 2005/2009 Grand Cru. Big fan of left bank Bordeaux.

Also Brunello’s such as Valdicava and Madonna.

If you want to splurge Haut
Brion Premier Cru 2009, 2012. Others I really like are Mouton Rothschild and Latour

    Hah, what a thread ;)

I'm mostly italian, when it comes to wine. I don't say that there are no good ones on the market, especially that I was surprised by some polish red, made in a vintage way.

Anyway, when it comes to red, my top choice is always Amarone. I'm not a real fan of tuscan grapes, but they are always a safe choice - Morellino, Chianti or Brunello. Same with wines from Sicily and Sardegna.. Choosing white, the first one is always Varnaccia> they even sell the icecream of this taste in San Gimignano.

But, hey - there is so many DOCG and DOC wines, that a list of italian IGT wines i reeeealy long. Same way, the list of italian grapes, native or not is really long. And being there, you will find some local wines that are really great.

You have to keep in mind, that wine, especially red - is not only the alcohol in the bottle. It's also a wather that you sit in, the occupant of the chair on the opposite side and the situation itself. Believe me or not, but the same wine taste differently during summer on the villa patio close to Rome and in the middle of the winter in Poland in your kitchen ;)

I really like the 2006 vintage from Napa. It is good value since critics did not rate 2006 as high as some other years. Where did you get the 2006 Dominus and pricing? I want to find a few.

The credit card has taken a hit the past few weeks with SQN, Maybach and Saxum allocations. I decided to pass on Myriad allocation and it did sell out very quickly.

The other day I polished off my last bottle of 2012 Stag's Leap "Cask 23" ... as always it was fantastic.

Also good day today as some of my favorite wine came in from Pahlmeyer.

    6 x 2017 Proprietary Rew Napa Valley
    6 x 2017 Merlot

    Most importantly ... :)

    3 x 2016 Pièce de Résistance
