    Ultimate F80 M3
Ever since BMW’s M division unleashed the legendary E30 M3 over 30 years ago, the M3 has represented peak 3 Series performance. Since then, those automotive wizards would go further every so often and turn out an even more aggressive and exclusive ‘bahn burner. This top-of-the-heap 2018 M3 CS, based on the sixth-generation F80 model, is one of those cars.

M, short for Motorsport, is BMW’s in-house department of gearheads that build street legal screamers. It was formed in the 1970s to facilitate BMW’s racing program and has created an M3 for every generation of the company’s 3 Series lineup since inception. Tweaking aerodynamics, improving handling and of course, increasing power, are hallmarks of these special vehicles.

The CS moniker, or Clubsport, on an M3 is a rare beast, reserved for only the most potent models. Last seen on an M3 from the E46 generation, it returned in 2018 for a single year of production. Only 1200 were made with just 550 sent to North America. Sporting 28 more horsepower, 37 more lb-ft of twist, ample use of carbon fiber and retuned dynamic systems over the base M3, this CS sits comfortably atop the F80 M3 mountain.

    Black Beauty
Finished in Black Sapphire Metallic, this M3 CS looks to be in pristine condition from the LED headlights to the smoked tails. There is no history of paint or bodywork, nor any rust on the vehicle. Features exclusive to the CS include a front splitter, hood, rear spoiler with unique Gurney flap design and diffuser made from carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. Understated design is a hallmark of BMW M cars and it applies here with just a handful of M3 badges and single CS emblem denoting how special this vehicle is. However, the bulging fenders, power dome hood and slippery side mirrors will immediately speak to enthusiasts.

Another CS-exclusive are the 10-spoke, forged-alloy wheels (Style 763M) with a DTM-inspired design. Finished in Orbit Grey Matte, they weigh just 9 kg (20 lb) up front and 10 kg (22 lb) out back. Appearing to be in excellent condition, they feature BMW roundel center caps with M logos and M-branded valve stem caps. Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires are fitted at all four corners, measuring 265/35 up front and 285/30 out back. Four-piston front brakes and two-piston rears feature blue painted calipers with white M logos and clamp cross-drilled rotors all around.

    Alcantara Everywhere
Inside condition mirrors that of the exterior with blemish-free trim, clean door panels and sport seats that show very minor evidence of wear. The Silverstone and Black Merino leather upholstery with contrast stitching is unique to the CS model. As is the door panel design and generous use of Alcantara throughout. Additional touches include tricolor M stripes on the seatbelts and front headrests and CS logo knocked out of the passenger-side dash fascia.

Anthracite-colored Alcantara wraps the multifunction M steering wheel with 12 o’clock stripe. It frames an M-branded instrument panel with gauges for fuel level, 200-mph speedometer, 8,500-rpm tachometer and engine coolant temperature. The central dashboard screen displays iDrive system settings, navigation details and Apple CarPlay information. Standard amenities include Harman Kardon surround sound, automatic climate control, backup camera, heated front seats and auto-dimming rearview mirror.

    Twin-Turbo Power
The heart of this CS beast is a twin-turbo straight-6 that cranks out 453 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, with steering column shifter paddles, sends power to the rear wheels that feature a differential tuned specially for the CS. Technical highlights of this S55 mill include variable valve and camshaft timing, sleeveless arc-sprayed cylinder walls, forged crankshaft and an additional engine oil suction pump to prevent starvation at the limit.

Along with the revised rear differential settings, engineers modified the adaptive suspension, stability control and exhaust for the CS. Crafted from stainless steel, those tailpipes include variable flaps that can be adjusted based on selected driving mode for serious snap, crackle and pop. Notable performance specs quoted by the manufacturer include a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and 174 mph top speed. There are no known issues with the car and the most recent service included a vehicle inspection and oil change performed by BMW of Pleasant Grove, Utah.

    All-Time M3
Located in American Fork, Utah, the seller purchased this 2018 M3 CS from the original owner three months ago in California. All original with no modifications, this CS shows 23,800 miles on the odometer and has a clean title and CARFAX report. Stickering at just shy of $100,000 when new, this very limited M3 CS combines all the best aspects of BMW’s M division into a perfect sendoff for the F80 generation.
