    Is there a data plate showing exact month and year of manufacture on the 412? I have an import tag in the door jamb, but would like to be able to point to a 1985 actual year of manufacture so as to permit me to garner Texas antique tags. Yes, I know, I should lift the hood and look. But the car is not with me and I'm going out of town.

    David, getting those plates in TX is easy. They won't want to see the car they just want to see the title. I have those plates on a few of my cars and never had any trouble getting them. My question is why do you want them? If your car is 25 years old in TX you won't need to pass emissions any longer.

    That's why I want them. The import tag shows 1986. That's 24 years ago.

    The DPS won't care one bit about when it was made (don't ask how I know) they only care about the year on the title.
    Sorry for the bad news but you'll have to wait one more year.
