Hi Group, I'm getting close to buying a 1990 TR. The car has the service history and the 30K has been preformed. I'm going to have a pre-buy done by Ferrari of Denver before I sign on the dotted line, but my question is do you have any feedback or things to be aware of when owning a TR? When I bought my 348 I had a list of "things to look for" is there a similar list for a TR? The service I know is more on a TR than 348. Thanks for any suggestions you might make. regards, Jim
Are you buying from FoD or some1 else ? Have them check the trans, axles, circuit board, AC, radiators, compression test, leakdown test. That should cover it
Firstly, best wishes to your potential TR purchase...89's and later are very desirable, so it's sounds like you've found a good deal. With regards to purchase questions, here's a link to a good starting point reference: http://www.modena-motors.com/TR%20Buyers.htm FORZA Magazine also ran a very thorough and informative "buyers guide" issue a good while back on the TR specifically, which I found to be very beneficial and helpful in my search. The biggest complaint I here about the later TR's is the automatic mouse-type seat belts. There's a recall on them, but I've heard the recall fix wasn't always a permanent one.
If you are purchasing the TR from FOD, I was in there around Thanksgiving time and looked at the car which was red/tan and had about 26,000 miles on it. Seemed fairly nice however the 30K hadn't been done yet so if it is the same car, make sure all that stuff has been completed. Roger B.
