348 spider manufacture dates

current porsche owner still looking to get into "the family". always loved the unloved 348. most agree that the later 348's are the best choice. i know the 348 spider was only available for manufactured years 1994 and 1995. but the 348's i've seen in person (and on line) have odd manufactured dates stamped in their door jambs.

all the 1994 348 spiders were built in 1993 (as early as 03-93) and all the 1995 348 spiders were built in 1994 (as early as 03-94) am i reading too much into this? i'm used to porsches built in fall of whatever year to be the next year's model, but march?
