Looking at a 355 on Monday and if decide to buy this will be subject to an inspection, compression and leakdown tests. What are the new figures for a 1996 355 for compression and leakdown?

I'm not sure there is a 'new' figure but look in the main 355 section - the main thing is a tight spread as the results are hugely affected by both the operator and the conditions

Hopefully whoever does the test/PPI for you will be able to advise. As usual the test should be done on a warm engine.

ISTR seeing results from 355s posted hereabouts nearing 200psi - certainly up at 190 psi for a healthy engine. I think you'd walk away from anything less than about 170.

As Greyboxer said, the "spread" is as important as the absolute numbers. 10% seems to be the accepted comfort zone/maximum. 5% would be better.
