348 Cam drain hole.

My car is a 1992 348, I am currently doing a head gasket change as I read 13% leakdown between 6 and 7. At the same time I will be doing the major, plus more!

On the subject of the cam drain holes and the need to drill them out. I am wondering if this applies to all cars, including my 1992?

Shown here are photos of the heads and the drain holes. I understand from other threads that the problem only applies to the exhaust side, and that one needs to be opened up and the other needs a new hole.

If I do need this modification, I am curious as to what systemic problem exists in the current state? Why does it appear to be fine?
