fwiw, i'd bet money it hasn't had its 30K major, which it's overdue for.

you can see some good leather wear commensurate with the mileage - they could have taken better care of the leather.

    that phone is LOVELY :)

a well-used TX car may be showing dash leather shrinkage et. al.

get it looked at / PPI'd.

nothing glaringly obviously problematic based on the post. it's a six to seven year old used car.

the buy-it-now price might be aggressive given my first point above.

    doody.

Yes, that's Martin. BJ, Martin is a forum member who is also a Ferrari Broker. (www.4ferrari.com)

So can we use the logic that if Martin's bidding on it, it must be a good car?

I agree with some of the comments.
-The price of $82K seems OK, but may be a bit low.
-30K get the history and talk to the garage who did the 30K.
-Get the car checked out via a pre buy inspection @ a F dealer.
    - Do not, Do not give any cash unless you go and see it, meet the seller, see the title.
    - Check out the VIN number.
    - Check out if any up-dates were done.
    - Inspect the car really closely.

If I seem too cautious you're right. I bought my car through an agent and I'll never do that again. I've done a fair amount on ebay and have had good experiences, except one. My advise is to be cautious and do your homework.
    Good luck,
    Jim

Sorry to break in on bjm's thread but I have a related question for Doody. With the car showing 13,571 why do you say that the 30K service should have been done? Thanks in advance for clarifying.

not sure if this is a big deal or not but I found out the whole car has been repainted because of rock chips.

conventional wisdom is that the major service (which includes replacing the timing belts) should be performed every 30K miles or 5 years, whichever comes first. you don't have to do it that way, and sometimes visual inspection of the belts will tell you something. but if you're wrong and it snaps, the mess created requires a substantial rebuild that'll cost 5X or more of a major service. there are an unfortunate few on this board who've experienced this first-hand.

the latest 575 manual stipulates 30K miles or 3 years, believe it or not. as best i can tell, nobody buys the 3 year thing, including the f-authorized dealer shops. most folks let their 550s go 6 years, even 7 apparently.

the 355 revs higher though and that causes more wear. and lord knows, 355 drivers keep that sucker revved!

    doody.

Funny how of all of the pictures taken of Ferrari interiors in cars posted on Ebay (or anywhere else for that matter) NEVER show the outboard bolster of the drivers seat. That shot would be worth a thousand words (or dollars).

Thanks Doody. It now makes sense. I overlooked the 5 year aspect and you're right about those hi revs!
