    I want to run a car fax but its a 1979 with a very short vin# will it still work?

    Many states do not report to carfax.

    Carfax can't be done on pre-17 digit VINs (which started circa 1980 US models IIRC)

    its on a car I already own, how do I do a ppi? = pre purchase inspection?

    just wanna get the history on it but not sure if carfax would work, thanks for all your help,,,, motor on!
