I need a trunk stay (rod, prop) for my trunk. I dont have the old one. I see DinoParts has a replacement "gas spring", Product-ID: 108-15 Does anyone use one, or is there a suitable replacement I can buy at my local autoparts store? Thanks Steve
Ferrari UK had them last time I needed one. Urotrash here has at least ONE spare he might sell you. DM
Steve: I bought the Dinoparts hydraulic strut earlier this year. It's easy to install and works extremely well, but of course is not "concours" (that's not a priority for me, but having the trunklid not come down on my head is). The problem was that the old "sliding cam latch" mechanism had become very difficult to lock in place. The other two (front and engine compartments) still work fine. I'd be happy to send you my old one if you think you might be able to get it to work better. No charge, just $5.00 shipping and handling. PM me if you're interested. Otherwise, I'm going to toss it. Stay's are standard on many British cars fromthe 50's and 60's, easyto find, but may need to be adjusted in length. I bought to my Dino stay's for Austin Healey, very cheap, but needed to be adjusted and replated.
I bought one from Team Triumph earlier. It's a little longer, I'm sure I can make it work. I'll probably take a trip to the autoparts store tomorrow and look for a generic hydraulic strut. Thanks Steve
Here's one from Beirut, $99 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280236359426
