They are, if they can actually find one. Supply and demand. It's even worse for GPU.

It's crazy. So there are really people out there buying old gen Xbox for twice the MSRP? And for close to the price of a new gen one (which seems to be sold out too but probably will be available soon).

I have never seens this. I understand the new tech version being expensive bc it's sold out for and people want it and did not have a chance to buy it until now. But old tech? It was for sale for 5 years for half the price. I actually had 2. And MS probably shipped dozen of millions of them.

Sometimes (and I can't confirm if this is the case here) the older model is much more desirable because it can be hacked to get free games. I know that early generation Apple TV's are like this so there may be more to this than meets the eye.

Prices are so high because it's even more harder to get a X/S series, and due to the ù@$§!; virus and risk of lockdown

This. Just get a Series X and you'll be good for another 5+ years.

Dang, I'd trade my Xbox One for a fully functioning older Xbox 360. Had a bunch of games on the old system that we enjoyed - NONE of which are supported by the Xbox 1. Pretty much only play "Scrabble" and "Trivial Pursuit" on the newer unit & otherwise just use it for Hulu & some other video streaming.

With more people shut in at home and unable to socialize in person during the pandemic, it seems consoles are more in demand to keep people entertained without leaving the house. Prices have gone up accordingly.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Partially right, new models always command a premium and always have. It was the case with the Ps1, the Saturn, the PS2, ps3,ps4. Just like for a new pair of Jordan’s

I was referring to the price increases for older consoles in the secondary market (the subject of the thread). It's not surprising that each new generation of consoles gets more expensive.

    All the best,
    Andrew.
