    Its simple really, a matter of owner preference. Dave likes his t the way it is no shield.
    I on the other hand like the sport look, a red Ferrari with shields has always been in my head since childhood, so the shields made sense for me! Just like my wooden steering wheel was something I have always wanted in a cool sports car and was not concerned about resell value or going non-original but its all reversible if I had to put it all back!

    Just to be contrary and difficult I'm going to say shields should be painted on. :D

    I was never a shield guy but I have been doing the unimaginable and creating my own shield mentally and may have that painted on some day. I like the look of the shield after it is starting to wear away, great vintage racer look.
