I am replacing the carpet in my '91 MondialT and under the drivers side panel just adjacent to the gas pedel, and where the stainless wear protector for the gas pedel is placed; I discovered a black box somewhat strangley mounted behind it. The box says Electrolux Autoliv with a manufacture date of 9048 and a part # of 13 20 42 00. I disconected it and it seemed that everthing was still working (not a thorough check though). I recently had the alarm replaced and a k40 hidden radar detector installed; so I don't know if this is part of the old alarm or what. The thing that concerns me is the manufacture date which would make it seem like this was an original part installed from Ferrari. The way that it was mounted to the revese side of the foot well just seemed a little non-factor though. Any help here would be wonderful.
    Thanks,

I believe Autoliv makes parts for safety equipment on cars like airbags, seatbelt systems, etc..

I am sure someone will chime in with the specific answer.

Probably the ECU for your motorized seat belts as Dan indicated (the cover for a similar publication for the TR motorized seat belts -- note the names in the upper left corner):

Were your motorized seat belts previously disabled or replaced with a manual system? Not the greatest figure to show how things go together, but see if what you have looks like this:

I have the part disconnected right now, and the seat belt mice still work. Wondering if it might be for the auto seat tensioners during an accident. It is a real pain to re-install though ...
