    My wife's new (new to us) 3.2 cab came without shields. My 550 came with well made ones and I've grown accustomed to the look---but that's a different car. Her 3.2 is in red and the lines are spectacular, so I'm wondering if shields would break the look. The car will likely live with it's top stowed since we have a pretty good run of warm days here in Texas. I agree with earlier comments that the Mondial doesn't photograph well because the more I look at it the better it looks---then again many critics didn't like the look of the Maranello the first time they saw it.

    This subject has been debated many times on the board and opinions are equally weighted both ways.... I personally have the shields but have not put them on yet.
    Here is a pic of with and without.
    Let us know your decision.

    I like them too on some cars, depending model and color. My Mondial and 308 have them. If I buy a TR I don't want them on.

    Shield is Scuderia Ferrari badge. So, strictly, shields should be placed only on race Ferraris, even if in modern days they are optional OEM on GTs.

    Moreover, I don't like to have too many Prancing Horses on my car: is a Ferrari, is really very evident looking at her, also with just the Prancing Horses the Factory put on her when she left Maranello.

    Finally, I'm a fanatic of originality on all Ferraris.

    For all these reasons I didn't place shields on my t cabriolet.

    All IMHO, obviously.

    Especially appreciate the side by side shot. I feel like the forum --- it's definately a 50/50 call. Then if it weren't I guess I wouldn't have asked.

    Like the car so much I guess I'm just searching for upgrades---already have my eye on getting 348 wheels. The standard wheels the car came with need a reprint/refurb so I may just go to 348 wheels instead of doing the refurb.

    This is really a GREAT forum--I clearly need to look into subscribing

    IMO, the Mondial is a study in understated beauty. Shields beg for attention, so my vote is no.

    For me I think the car looks great without but it is really up to you. You should do it if you like it.

    I love the shields and with the 348 wheels you were thinking of it really sets it off and gives a more dramatic look and stance. It enhances the car and they fill the wheel arches better as well as improving the ride and feel.
    I did both options but at the end of the day it's personal preference. If you change the wheels it's a good idea to keep the originals.

    I asked the same question over a year ago after I bought my 3.2. Well, I love my shields and would do it again. What is there not to like, especially on a Rosso Corsa!

    Its the Classic Ferrari look hands down, forget about subtle, its a red Ferrari MAN, you aren't fooling anyone ! ;) If you like the look, go for it. But like everything else, its all about owners preference. I'm not a fan of 348, 355, or 360 wheels on a Mondial, but I'm a sucker for shields.

    For me no, but I think if they are done it should be in the most authentic way. Hand painted right onto the car as they did on the early race cars.

    But who in the world would you trust to hand paint such a thing? Or was that the point?

    Since my car is my car and no longer belongs to the factory I was thinking of modifying the shield to personalize it and then commission a local artist to paint it on. There would have to be interviews and practice runs. I envision it is possible, not overly complex. Searching for old race car images they were of varying sizes and even the details could vary slightly. Such is the nature of hand painting.

    My favorite images are of old race cars with the badge starting to fade and wear away.

    Hi PV, the hand painted version could look either really good or really bad.
    There are Race Car Hood Panel Wall Art by Darren Hall that seems to be great looking painted.
    Not sure if the faded look will look right on an 80s car as they do on 50s and 60s Ferraris.
    Personally, I think the double taped on Scuderias look great with its clean layered boarder look and can easily be taken off if you change your mind.
    But as you stated nicely, its your car, make it your own !

    I have an extra set of shields i bought from an fachat member and when a certain somebody finally agrees to sell me his gas powered toy Mondial kids car, they are going on it for my son to enjoy.

    The Ferrari Agostini Auto Junior Mondial cabriolet is extremely rare. Family heirloom item, good luck on getting that from Michael, lol.

    My shields are $8.00 ebay magnetic. They look good on my 1959.
