heya guys; just thought I'll write up my very first experience with a Mondial,

I had over the weekend gone to have a look at a 3.2QV '87 for a fellow F-chatter mate. He works in S'pore so I thought since I was around in KL, I'll go check the car for him to see if it's worth the money or if it's going to be a money pit. I'm no expert, but it would be better than nothing -a bit like a pre PPI- to see even a PPI is worth the time and effort or not plus I love anything with wheels and an engine, so it was no hassle for me.

anyway, it was Nero and looked not bad at all....in fact, i kinda liked it from many angles....my fav view being the rear actually!!! anyway, having met the friendly and pretty honest owner IMHO, who told me what has and needed to be done to the car, I took it for a little spin with him riding shotgun....and was i pleasantly surprised....at the back of my mind, i thought this was going to take an eon to move.....but no....it was quite chirpy! the little fellow isn't going to be completely felt out of place with more modern cars on the road! when push comes to shove by say little souped up CRZs just because this a Ferrari , this fellow can give a fight!! (of course the best thing to do is ignore, I'm not encouraging racing on public roads or entertaining retards on road, but just saying!! ;-)
the gearbox was in fact a little bit smoother than my 348!! and I had a passenger at the back (my brother) and he said the seats aren't as retarded as say in a 911! one (or two!) can actually sit in them pretty all right!!!

the road handling was pretty spot on as well, and it being non-power assisted, communicated well and i knew what the front two wheels were telling me pretty loud and clear!

= to sum it all up....don't underestimate anything just because you've read "reviews" or listened to people who opine just about everything..(i did the same with my 348, thought it was rubbish till i test drove one-that one is a street legal go-cart i tell you but before i get carried away, it's not for this board!!!).....anyway, you might be pleasantly surprised; something not raved about might just be that little bit better and you might be pleasantly surprised once you've tried it in person.....

There ya go - an intelligent, open way to look at all of this "here's what I think" stuff. And speaking of what I think - - may I suggest you go for a ride in a "t". It's got the same sweet look of a 3.2, yet it has the power of the 348 !!! Also included, are a bunch of really cool features that didn't show up until the debut of the 355.

Now go and enjoy some Char Quey Teow :):):)

    Cheers,

    Hank

And let me tell you, more you drive it more you love it. And they really get attention. I think they are a cheap buy for what they are.

    Hi Ted,

Everyone has their own way of expressing their feelings. What you're referring to, may just be his way of saying "I had no idea". This "typing" of thoughts can really F--- things up - and honestly, I hate it. Let's give it a bit of time.

    Cheers, Hank

If I could get hold of one I would definitely like to, trust me. In fact i might actually think of getting a Mondial one day as it seems to be much more practical than most F-cars! I think a well taken care one could be a good DD with kids and stuff!
ha...i see you have a fav dish here ;-) now that you mentioned it, that just might be a dinner option!
    cheers

not so sure as to how it might screw things up!!! but yeah i agree, looking at it from a pessimistic view, if one who doesn't know what on earth a Mondial is, upon reading it with a pessimistic mindset, might imply some pessimistic view that the car might not have been that good !!! but no, please read it with an open mindset, over even better, a positive one because that was the point of this thread! the car is brilliant ;-)

I'm with Ted on this title, almost like saying I like it over a Hyundai??? Hmm, compliment or ****?
But I understand what the OP is saying because I was one of those guys 10 years ago. I think its a maturity thing, as I get older, I like more and more classics and that was not always the case for me. Yes, as I have been a huge proponent of the Mondial, it is the only undiscovered and misundertood Ferrari gem out there these days. A totally amazing and most practical Ferrari ever made!

    Cheers

I bought my Mondial simply to see what was all this rumpus about Ferraris. It is 50% Enzo Ferrari, and 50% Fredrico Fellini. There simply is nothing I have ever driven that is like it. Further, I was surprised by the power and tractability. It will do a sharp right turn in third gear and not make a hic-up, yet charge to the red line like hell on wheels. Handling is without vice, and as stated in another post goes neutral in an emergency avoidance maneuver. It is a Sports Car. Perhaps one of the best, and certainly one of the latest of the original breed. Would not be out of place with side curtains.
