Oh well here we go again:)

The dreaded fuel filler flap is stuck and won't open. The button on the dash does nothing and I don't hear any click when I press it. The emergency flap release in the engine bay does not work when I pull it and looks like you just can't get to it - or can you?

    Fuse is ok.

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks.

    Peter,
Are you pulling the correct release? Pull the emergency release a little harder while pushing the door in a hair. I forget whether it's the one in the trunk or in the engine bay.

    Thanks Jay.

Well after spraying about half a can of WD40 and a lot of banging on the flap it finally opened. However, yes the emergency release is in the engine bay and has never worked and I think now is the time to repair it. I just couldn't understand how they installed the release cable. It's seems as though the car was built around it:)

    Thanks.

It's the one in the engine bay. I pretty sure you can slide a thin piece of something soft and force it a bit but not too much while pulling the cable. Shouldn't be too hard.

I've been just a bit late with my answer. LOL

OMFG. 733 for a solenoid!? Is it made from moon rocks or diamonds? For future ref, Is there another manufacturer cross compatibility option? Fiat, etc?

Who are they kidding at that price! It's half price here in the UK and even that's a rip off. I read somewhere recently where that part was bought for $50 in a non Ferrari box.

My solenoid is fine, the plunger just needed lubricating but what I need to fix is the emergency release puller for it which is in the engine bay. When I pull it nothing happens. The flap does open ok from the dashboard switch.

Wade that solenoid is great! I rewired mine nut was not a total success after a little while. This one can be installed to pull at the same place as the emergency cable.

I think that the emergency release cable has detached itself from the solenoid. How do you remove the solenoid for the fuel filler flap so I can re attach it? Its hidden away behind the bodywork and can't access it.

    Thanks.

    Morning Peter!

I'm afraid the solenoid has a ring nut under the fuel flap to where it is attached to the body. You need to take off the inner fender and the outer and inner air intake to reach the solenoid. I'm not sure if you could pull the short end of a broken release cable there with a a pair of squeeze pliers.

Let me see if there is a different way later this morning

Thanks, that's a lot of dismantling just to get to that cable:(

    Cheers.

Hi Tijn, thanks very much, thats great!

After i sprayed tons of WD40 yesterday and sticking a credit card in the gap it finally opened. Its because i hadnt used it for almost 7 weeks due to the expansion tank problem i had and it got stuck.

Now it opens every time again with the centre console switch. Its still a bit sticky and want to remove it to clean the slider.

The major problem is i need to fix the emergency release cable and i need to get the solenoid out of there to do that. I think it detached from the cable.

    Thanks again.

    Peter,

Not sure about the emergency release, that should work. If not, that suggests something deeper.

I had the same issue with mine, but could always use the emergency pull cable.

I finally fixed the electrical portion. Bought a used solenoid from GTCP in Phoenix for 100.$. Didn't do the trick. Turned out is was the contacts in the switch. Removed the switch, took it apart to clean and retention the contacts. Hard to believe the switch carries the full current and a relay is not used.

Anyway, works fine now. Still have the solenoid if you need it.

Thanks Marc that's very kind of you.

I did also spray some electrical cleaner into the switch and pressed it about 50 times:)

It works ok now but would really like to repair the emergency release which sounds like a pain to do.

    Thanks.

Peter you only need to remove the Wheel well. Very simple. The nut for the cable is very small. Maybe they lost it and it's not there and is why the cable is not hooked.

Thanks Claude, sounds easy enough, I'll do this on the weekend.

It was quite worrying being at the gas station last week when it wouldn't open. Luckily I wasn't far from home and could get back.

    Cheers.
