There's currently an '89 T Coupe for sale on eBay with a $19.5K BIN price. Ferrari Mondial Black | eBay There is almost zero info about the car from a seller with zero feedback. If I wasn't holding out for a 3.2 that wasn't black or had grey leather, I'd be calling the seller for more info. 2cam
That is awfully low. I am thinking scam. # goes back to a car dealership in Greenville, SC. Roadtrip Carolinas's 910 Laurens Rd Greenville, SC - 29607 Phone : 864-630-2666 Seller has been an ebay member since.................(wait for it................................................) January 6, 2105!! (uh, that would be today for the those who are not good at math or calendars). Any listers nearby care to check this one out and report back??? Regards, Jerry
Very odd, indeed. Also of interest is the autocheck score. The ebay ad shows it to be 46, which is well below the expected range. Wonder why that might be. Looks ok in the photos. Probably more to this story. Edit: something to do with the odometer. A past discrepancy was overlooked by autocheck. Perhaps DMV error on the mileage?
I think this smells pretty fishy..... 1989 Ferrari Mondial T Coupe Greenville, South Carolina | roadtrip carolinas 30K on the website....
Haha, touche my friend. Though you were on track, this is a sketchy looking deal, and a great job detailing this fine car in preparation of sale...Yikes.
Lot's of info here within FerrariChat on that one. ZFFFD32A0K0082547 https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/mondial/445340-speaking-hardtops.html
That's OK, make fun of me, (j/k), I already have my t coupe..... It actually looks decent on the website, still needs a full PPI, I wonder what the title looks like and where it is?????? Regards, Jerry
Here is the carfax on this VIN: ZFFFD32A0K0082547 Seems legitimate, but still sounds fishy, yet worth a look. CARFAX Vehicle History Report for this 1989 FERRARI MONDIAL T: ZFFFD32A0K0082547
I paid for a full PPI at RS Autosport in Jupiter back in August 2008 and the car doesn't look like anyone put any effort into it since. It's too bad 'cause I wanted to rescue that car but the dealer wanted way too much money for it. The car had a LOT of issues. Here's a few photos from back then. . Great info and pics. If anyone looks at this, the rust areas would be the place to start. Wouldn't that buff out after some rustoleum?? Regards, Jerry
Check to see if some one fixed the adjustable suspension system as well. It was inoperative when I droved it. No A/C either. Oh, and the left side intake slats had broken tips. Plus the left fog light glass had a small hole (stone damage?). That's for starters anyway.
OK, there's damage on the R/H front . This can be seen inside the bonnet, just in front of the battery. Battery switch must be cut off or it will drain. Car has been re-painted and it's an awful paint job. There is no service records at all and the state of the cam belts are unknown. The miliage is suspect and can't be verified. Engine compartment has been cleaned, so any oil leaks won't show up yet. Seems to have been a problem on the driver's side. The driver's seat has been replaced. The guy at place was actually very honest and was steering people clear of it. Even though it's a "T", probably not worth the e-Bay $19,500.00
Sounds like a rehab money pit to get it up to par! Photos didn't look so bad, - it explains the extremely low asking price. The car has not had a good life, thanks for checking for us.
Unlike the long list of defaults, I don't think it's a parts car. This could be a good project for a DIY-er, for the right price that is. I bought my car in a sorta same condition and now I'm bullying her around town... She'll never win any beauty contests, but for me she's the top queen of two tone red Mondials!
Not to be confused with earlier models, this "T" model can eat you alive in parts and restoration costs, mainly the mechanical side of it. From the looks of the rust photos, there is no telling what else could be wrong with the engine. That's the expensive part.
The engine and the parts are astronomical for the year of the car seems the older they are the more Expensive the mechanical parts are. I can tell you from recent experience. Look for a better example. The higher price is better than a low price with no idea where the car has been. In my opinion if it looks tired but dressed up. It's gonna cost to restore it. The rust. Rust can get expensive as well especially if repaired to Ferrari standards. I wouldn't be worried about engine cost as much as I would the rust if it has spread it could be very costly. As for the engine big bucks I mean big bucks. I will have over ten grand in my engine and had I bought a better higher price example. I would have saved money and could be driving the car now instead of it being in the shop with Engine out of the car spending thousands to bring her back to life. If you Diy it you could be ok on it but that is doing all work yourself including body and paint. I opted to pay some one else to do it as I do not have the time nor the experience to attempt it. Plus I wanted it done before March.
