seems a bit more than just a relatively mild performance package. Thats almost like calling the Lingenfelter TT package mild.

Well, lets see. The stage 4 Evo package is good for 700hp, with bolt ons you can do in your garage. If you step up to the Stage 4 gt package, the motor has to come out for intake mods. Both very simple procedures. People run both setups, with the stock clutch. Driveability, and reliability are unaffected. The package will run around 15,000.

My point is that you can buy a nice used 2001 996TT in the 70's and for less than 90K, have a car that is incredible. Now of course as usual, you guys have to bash it, especially Des with his super opinions on a car that he couldnt afford a re-tread tire for. So it doesnt matter if its a Lambo, or Porsche, or a Nsx, no matter what, you guys always talk smack. It must be fear.

I can have the car in my profile pulling the front wheels at the strip for less than 15k. Now, would you like to accelerate or corner? BOTH?! Well, get the Porsche then.

I know some of you think it would be more fun to tool around with a 200hp Ferrari 308 with the prancing horse aura surrounding you, but others have to make due with what they have. Not everyone is as blessed as you.

How would this compare to one of the RUF Tuned Porsches? Just curious.

    Price not being a factor.

Well..I guess I'm in the minority - but I think this would be a hell of a car. Porsche makes a great platform to build on and personalize..

    Great choice Alan!

They are substantially faster than the RUF cars, and much less expensive.

I also agree Porsche is a fantastic platform to personalize. So many different options, so much speed, and reliability.

Now that car would be a blast to drive. What a hoot.

You could out run a cop by stopping on the motorway and wait until his car reached about 3 car lengths behind you and then nail it and still blow him away ... even if he was nearly toning the cop car/bike :D. Infact he wouldn't be able to see you anyway thanks to all the tyre smoke.

As they say if you want to win races you buy a Porsche!

If your going for peformance only and cost was a factor wouldn't the C5 corvette be the best platform to build?

No, because the Porsche is still exclusive, the Vette is not.

Allan: there's a guy here in CA that has an EVO pkg 996TT w/ 700 hp. I believe he owns/runs S Car Go, but his name escapes me; he's in the N. Cali area-- Napa Valley. Anyway, he moderates the 6 speedonline forum, may want to look him up if you're conisidering this (which is cool, IMO.)
Do they disconnect the 4WD system? I remember he was breaking traction w/ 305 , or was it 335, rear tires. Nutty power -- just don't hurt yourself.

You won't believe this, but this has actually been done. I know because I was there. And it happened more than once in the same night. PM me for details, as this is all I can post in public. Allan, this involved the Porsche GT2 you posted about not too long ago.

    Hubert,

His name is Chad Viso. He does not have any affiliation w/S-Car-Go other than being a customer. His car does not have any EVO parts on it. He has a lot more than 700hp. Chad's car is still 4wd.

Allan already knows who Chad is and he has already visited 6speedonline.

regarding RUF cars, my understanding is that while they do make the closest thing to a factory-quality car, they emphasize it being just as driveable and long-lived as a standard turbo, but most rennlisters conclude that unless you buy directly from RUF, which I assume gives a warranty, doing it with techart, gemballa, lotec etc is much better and more cost efficient. Do you all realize that this cars performance is undeniable? the car is going from 62-100 in under 2 seconds!!! Awesome cars... Cant wait for the old school body of the 997. Personally though, Id settle for "just" 600 HP, the feasible limit for a roadgoing 993 turbo, the last aircooled model.
