With all the rumors about the new 360 and the recent price increases from Ferrari, does anybody want to venture a guess as to MSRP for a 360 spider replacement? I have to believe we will be north of $200,000 without the F1 tranny. I wonder if the potenial market (buyers) will decrease if we are talking $200,000 to $220,000+ for a V8 spider.

Ferrari asserts it is losing money on every 360 it sends to the US. The recent price increase according to one Ferrari official does not cover what they are losing. Thus it is safe to assume they will make up for it on the replacement model.

As of Feb. 16th 2004 the base price for the F1 Spider is $192,000. The F1 is approximately a $10,000 option. The basic 6 speed Spider is $182,000. I suspect the basic 360 replacement will come in around $190,000. Much will depend on the stength of the Euro compared to the dollar.

Many of the high end car companies are chasing very cautious buyers and there is a break point where buyers will walk away because of the price. Notice that the recent Ferrari increase did not include price increases for the 575M or the Stradale. Ferrari is acutely aware of the price point issue.

I won't be concerned about a $220K price tag, provided they accomplish the following:

    500HP
    Substantially improved torque
Keep weight in 3200lb (or less)
    More aggressive styling
Tops competitors on track AND in a straight line

If they don't accomplish that, there won't be one in my garage (at any price)
