I sold a '84 cab that had a cockpit cover with it. This cover basically covers the interior and most of the windshield when the top is down, so you don't need to put up the top( ie: if going into a restaurant for lunch, etc.). It is shown in the white cab supplement that went with the silver/grey owners manual.

    The questions I have are:
    a) Was this standard, or was this a factory option?
    b) What years was this avialable? IE: Did it carry into the 3.2 & t years?
    c) Mine is black, were any other colors avialable?
    d) Does anyone have a photo of one on their car?

My '85 has one. Was in the trunk when I bought the car. Mine is black also. The thing looks like a pain and i've never used it, probably never will.

They were standard with every Mondial Cab from the first year to the last year.

I believe they were all black canvas, same material as the top. Not too bad to use, but take a little time. Easier than putting the top up an down.

I am surprised. It is actually pretty easy to use. Actually, quicker to put this cockpit cover on/off, than to put top up/down. Nice part of using cover besides screwing around putting top back up, is two-fold:

a)The cockpit cover covers most of the windshield, so the dash is protected from most of sun exposure, as well as interior. I did an (80)hour + materials, disassemble and re-dye on the interior due to sun fade. It's also surpising how many Mondial Cab's that you see with an interior that looks like crap as all faded & worn. After the re-dye, my interior looked like new, and I wanted to keep it that way.

b)I put a new top on my Cab( $1,500), due to sun fade. After that, I never left it outside in the sun unless car was covered, or top was down and covered with boot, and interior covered with cockpit cover.

OK, I'm an idioto...How is it supposed to go over the cockpit?
Do the tabs go under the windshield wiper blades?
Do the tabs with the snaps go around the tonneau cover?
    Windows up or down?
Do you secure the fabric against the windshield by closing the door on it?
I looked but there are no instructions in the manual.

The tonneau is actually easy to put on the car once you know how.
    1.Front windows are up.
    2. Snap the elastic straps around the mirrors on each side.
    3. Rear tabs bend over and clip to louvers over engine compartment.
    4. Side tabs bend under door and wheel well on either side.

When properly installed, it will cover about 1/3 of the windshield. It looks like a cut-down speedster top. You don't have to put the windows up, but it fits better. I use mine all the time, as it's a lot easier than putting the top up. It keeps out dust, sun, birds, etc. I don't have any close-ups, but these pics show it intalled.

OK I tried it and it works! The mirror snaps and the engine louvers work fine. The two others just hang. They aren't long enough to grab the fender as in the photo. Thankyou for your help.

Good work! The side straps ARE long enough. They don't seem like they are at first, but they WILL stretch. They won't scratch if they are attached, but you don't want them flapping around in the breeze.

I just picked one up myself from Norm (THANKS!!!) and gave it a try. Although it is easy to put on, I have the same trouble with the rearmost side straps. They don't appear to be anywhere near long enough to reach the back wheel wells (if that is where they strap on). I am wondering if I need to install it much further back (although I found the notch/slot for the forward hook straps and have the top installed so that they are pretty vertical). A side view of the install would be extremely helpful.

Here you go. I went out, put it on the car and took some pics. Looks like I need to clean the mirrors!
