    i dont understand how 355 owners feel their cars are so superior to the 348 when imho, the 355 is simply an evolution of the 348. if 355 owners want a big improvement on the 348 they should get a 360 which truly is a new design.

    F355 to 360. The 360 was a clean sheet design whereas the F355 was a sort of an update of the 348 (a drastic one, but an stillupdate nonetheless).

    The 348 cable acuated shifter is realy clumsey.

    The superior shifting of the 355 should be considered a revolution in it self.

    I'm afraid it is not true. Only the chassis and the engine block is from the 348. The engine layout is changed from transverse to longitutional. That change the whole balance of the car. The engine block may be the same but the motronics and power output are all different. The F355 has power steering and better (softer) clutch.

    You have to drive both to know the difference. On papre you may think they're the same but they're a world apart.

    The chassis is the base the whole car is build on. Since the F355 used the 348 chassis it is an update.

    Imprecise question, different in design or in driving impressions ?
    Never driven a 348, but found the difference between 355 and 360 narrower than I expected.

    This is an over-simplified view.

    This is an interesting question;
    Between the 355 and 360, construction methods and materials used are entirely different. Between the 348 and 355, there are only subtle differences.

    However, performance-wise the 355 is much closer to the 360 than it is to the 348. From the 348 to the 355, there is a 75hp diffeence. From the 355 to the 360, there is only a 25hp difference. If you look at performance statistics, the 355 is very close to the 360 - so much so that if you get two 6-speeds lining up at the light, it will come down to the drivers.

    Dan....get to the show and answer those (mostly) stupid questions, will ya!! LOL. "Is that a Fore-rari?" "I'd rather have my Nova!" "$200,000! That costs more than every trailer in my family put together!" "Got any Grey Poupon?" "My mullet would fly around too much with that there open top!" "My cousin's neighbor's got a Portch and that would blow this thing away!"

    There all good, why becourse we are the fortunate ones who own them.How does this argument sound to F chat members who have not got one and hope one day to get one.They all have there good and bad points, i remember when the 355 came out there was talk of the car being designed on a blank piece of paper with no referance to the 348, but now we know this is not true.As for the 360 i drive this car alot and i dont compare it with my 355 spider becourse its another great ferrari.Things move on yes,new models are released to huge fanfares with claims of this and that until the next one.From a personal point of veiw when i look at my 355 spider and 328 gts from the side,the 328 wins hands down,and i know the 348s,355s,and the 360 are easyer to drive i would have a 20 year old 288 or a 30 year old 250lm any day and live with the heavy steering and non abs any day.We own some of the most sort after exotics in the world, how lucky are we dudes.
